Prof. Andreas F. Widmer, MD,MS, FIDSA, FSHEA is founder and president of the Swiss National Center for Infection Prevention (www.swissnoso.ch). He is responsible for Surveillance of healthcare associated infections in switzerland. He was trained in switzerland, did a fellowship with R.Wenzel, in Iowa, USA, and earned a MS Degree in hospital epidemiology of the University of Iowa, IA. USA: He was deputy chief of infectious diseases and hospital epidemiology at the university of basel, Switzerland before moving to the capital of Switzerland, Berne. He is currently associate editor of the Journal Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, was board member of the american society for healthcare epidemiology of america (SHEA), and core member patient safety at the WHO.
