Ozgen Eser

Prof. Dr., MD-PhD

I am a full-time faculty member of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Microbiology. My journey in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases began three decades ago, and it has been characterized by studying on bacteriology and antimicrobial resistance. I have worked on Streptococcus pneumoniae in molecular epidemiology laboratory of Emory University between 2007-2008. I had the chance to study with Lesley McGee and Prof. Dr. Keith Klugman in Atlanta, USA. My primary fields of expertise include antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods, encompassing both molecular diagnosis and molecular epidemiology techniques. I actively participate in the GPS and JUNO projects organized by the Wellcome Sanger Institute – Pathogen Genomics. Additionally, I serve as the chief editor of the Microbiology Bulletin (SCIE) and manage the routine laboratory for hepatitis/HIV molecular diagnostic tests.
