Dr. Antoine Abou Fayad is an Assistant Professor of Experimental Pathology, Immunology and Microbiology at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Combining Chemical Synthesis and Biosynthesis to Generate Novel Antibiotics from the University of St Andrews, St Andrews, UK in 2014. His research extends to unraveling the intricate mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, with a special emphasis on Gram-negative bacteria. Of particular interest to him are the drivers of antimicrobial resistance in conflict settings, where unique challenges abound.
