April Baller

Dr. April Baller is the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) & WASH Team Lead at the Health Emergencies Programme, World Health Organization, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She holds an MBBCh, PG Certificate in Infection Control, MRCGP, Diploma in HIV Management, DTM&H, MPH, and an MBA. April has 25 years of experience in a range of clinical medicine and public health areas, including family, reproductive, tropical diseases, emergency medicine and communicable disease outbreak management. She has been actively involved in the COVID-19 pandemic, Marburg outbreak in Equatorial Guinea, Ebola Virus Disease outbreaks in Uganda, DRC, and West Africa, as well as Lassa Fever, Dengue and mpox. She previously worked in protracted humanitarian emergencies settings with several NGOs including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Darfur, Yemen, and Colombia. She has implementation research experience with Prevention of Mother-To-Child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV programs in Malawi, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe. Prior to that April worked as a clinician in the UK, Australia, and South Africa.
