Dr. İnkaya graduated from the Ege University Faculty of Medicine, İzmir, Turkey, in 1997. He worked as a resident in Medical Physiology at the Mersin University Faculty of Medicine in Mersin, then he moved to Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine for training in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology. After achieving the specialist degree in Infectious Diseases he served as an attending physician at Adana State Hospital for 3 years. He started his PhD training at Adana Çukurova University Department of Medical Microbiology, Section of Virology in 2010. Dr İnkaya joined Hacettepe University Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases in 2011 as a postdoctoral fellow/attending physician.
Dr İnkaya visited Utrecht University (Netherlands) Department of Virology worked with Prof AM Wensing on HIV resistance testing and clinical interpretation of resistance mutations in 2014. In 2017, Dr İnkaya worked as a visiting scientist at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel, Switzerland under the supervision of Prof HH Hirsch. He became Associate Professor in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (Turkey) in 2020.
Dr. İnkaya has participated as a speaker over 100 national and international meetings. He has published 90 peer-reviewed, SCI indexed papers as well as several book chapters in Turkish. He served as a member of Cellular Therapies Scientific Board in Turkish Ministry of Health between 2019-2022. He has been working as a member in National HIV/AIDS Advisor Board since 2019. He is the panel member in National HIV / AIDS testing and treatment guidelines. Dr. İnkaya is the academic supervisor of Hacettepe Students Scientific Research Team (HÜTBAT).
